2025 TAPPI Horizon Scholarship
The Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI) is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive industry by providing opportunities for highly qualified students who have demonstrated perseverance in overcoming personal, social, or economic barriers in their pursuit of higher education or career goals. This scholarship aims to support talented and driven students who are interested in careers in the pulp, paper, tissue, and packaging industries by providing financial assistance, professional development, and industry exposure.
Scholarship Details
- Scholarship Amount: $2,000
- Available Awards: 3 scholarships per year.
Qualifications
- Must be a full-time student or part-time student enrolled in at least 11 credit hours.
- Must have demonstrated perseverance in overcoming personal, social, or economic barriers in pursuit of higher education and career goals.
- Curious about pursuing a career in the pulp, paper, packaging, or converting industry (e.g., engineering, human resources, marketing, finance, IT, etc.).
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
Additional Scholarship Benefits
- One-year complimentary student membership to TAPPI.
- Complimentary registration to attend one TAPPI Conference.
- One year of mentorship from an industry leader within TAPPI’s membership association.
- $1,000 stipend available for travel to a TAPPI conference.
How to Apply
To apply for the TAPPI Horizon Scholarship, students must submit the following materials to TAPPI’s Awards Department by March 23, 2025:
- Completed TAPPI Horizon Scholarship Application Form.
- One letter of recommendation from a professor, employer, mentor, or community leader highlighting the applicant’s accomplishments, character, and preparedness for a professional career.
- 500-word essay sharing how the applicant has:
1. Demonstrated perseverance or overcome difficulties in their personal, academic, or professional life to arrive where they are today.
2. How they will draw on those experiences to contribute positively to the pulp, paper, tissue, packaging, and converting industry.
Scholarship recipients will be selected by a group of industry leaders and TAPPI’s Culture and Engagement Team. All applicants will be notified of their application status by April 30, 2025.
